How can I get my Domain name back?
Q. I bought some cheap domain names from a reseller and now, I think I've been scammed because they don't seem to function anymore. All my sites are down. This is very important to me. Can someone please help me with some advice? thanks.
Asked by favour b - Sat Jun 28 13:36:07 2008 - - 1 Answers - 1 Comments
A. Did the domain names come with web hosting? If you just bought domain names without hosting, then you wont see any pages, but you will 'own' the domain name - you can buy web hosting to make them work. If you bought web hosting with your domain names, then you need to speak to them. It maybe your webhost may have a short term temporary problem keeping your websites live.

Which Domain Registration Reseller's API to recommend?
Q. I plan to resell Domain Name Registration at my website, can anyone share your experience on which supllier should I sign-up with? I also have developed my own E-commerce website, therefore I would prefer a supplier that has a flexible control panel that allow me to resell my own product as well as their Payment Gateway product. Thanks.

A. Directi's ResellerClub API is relatively simple to put into use. It is flexible enough to let you bundle products & services. You can sell your own product and at the same time include some of ResellerClub s products. ResellerClub API comes with a specification, client side kits, sample forms, sample code and complete documentation. PHP, Perl, ASP.NET and Java client side kits available.

What is the best method for selling a domain name?
Q. The domain names I have aren't that popular so I don't expect high 3-figures. Is selling through a reseller or auction site the best, or can selling it on my own work given the limited value of the domains? Thanks.

A. Given that your domain names are not high value I think you should not spend on auction sites. Go with the personal option.

What's a Reseller in domain registration?
Q. What's a reseller in domain name registration and what does a reseller do? What's the right?
Asked by Dorky - Tue Feb 27 03:40:31 2007 - - 2 Answers - 0 Comments
A. A reseller in this case is a person or company that has business arrangement(s) with domain name registrar(s) to register domain names. If you, for example, wants to register 'yourname.com', you can register it with registrars or resellers. Resellers get a small fee from registrars for getting customers to register with them.

How do I point a domain name with one host to a webspace with another?
Q. I am designing websites for other people. Most of them have already bought their domain names from other hosts. A. Just go to the domain control panel and forward the domain to the webspace address that you have, make sure to include keywords to domain when you setting up the forward (If this future is available, these days most of domain companies have this future), this way the search engines could pick up in the assigned keywords, and about keywords use six or seven keywords; two or three words keywords. How do I access the domain control panel? Lets use an example for this, if the client have the user name and password, just go to the domain provider's website and sign-in and go to domain control panel, if the client doesn't have the domain information, go where the client is and from there call the company that sold the domain and ask them to… [cont.]

Q. Tried getting my emails from my domain for the past 3 days but this message appears when I type in my site address to view my website; "This account has been suspended. Either the domain has been overused, or the reseller ran out of resources." Who do I contact in regards to getting my domain back the company who owns the domain name or my the company that does my hosting?
Asked by sheila_sutra - Thu Feb 8 10:32:32 2007 - - 1 Answers - 0 Comments
A. That message is typically generated by the hosting provider. I'd check with the website hosting provider first before contacting your domain provider, and that's if they're separate. Two common reasons that message occurs is either due to a billing issue, or your website is using "too much" of your allotted resources by your host. Your host can give more specifics.

Which domain registrars offer domains with a private whois service?
Q. I am looking to register a .org domain name, but do not which to have my address publicly available. A. Go to iwhois.com, type the domain name on the search box, and click Search. Then scroll down the results and look at the part where it says something like "Domain servers" or "DNS servers". If it says something like ns1.yourhost.com and ns2.yourhost.com, note the yourhost.com part of it. Usually that's the domain name of the hosting provider. So if it said something like ns1.hostgator.com and ns2.hostgator.com, then the host domain is hostgator.com. That belongs to Hostgator, which is a well-known hosting provider around here as well. On the other hand, it seems your main concern is really the domain name. Look at the WHOIS results again and check the line "registrar". The line "registrar" indicates who really registered the domain… [cont.]

How do you as a web designer host your clients' websites?
Q. I was wondering how the web designers here host their clients websites and/or sell them domain names. Do you buy one shared hosting account and put them all there or do you give them their own separate accounts as a reseller? Or do you just tell them to go buy hosting somewhere?
